Salem Community College's main campus is found in 11 acres in the Carneys Point Township. SCC offers associate degrees in Associate in Science, Associate in Applied Science, Associate in Arts and Associate in Fine Arts. The school also offers certificates and diplomas in several courses including scientific glass technology, liberal arts, practical nursing, and business.
Salem Community College was established in 1958 as Salem County Technical Institute. Because of the level of the programs offered by the school, the Salem County Board requested that the school be allowed to grant degrees. After the New New Jersey Commission on Higher Education evaluated the programs, they granted the request. Soon after that, Salem Community College was established in 1972.
Salem Community College gets its accreditation from the Commission on Higher Education of the Middle States Association of Colleges and Schools. Accreditation was granted in 1979, and then it was reaffirmed again in 1984, 1990, 1995 and 2005. The school offers traditional classes, or classes that are on campus, as well as distance learning through online classes. The school also offers hybrid classes, which is a combination of both traditional and online classes.
Salem Community College is a member of the NJCAA or the National Junior College Athletic Association. The school competes in the Garden State Athletic Conference. The school fields teams in Men’s basketball and baseball as well as Women’s Soccer and Basketball. The school colors are white and green, and the school nickname are the Oaks.
